  The Government's new policies are just another chapter of the hostile environment and continue the same failed, security-over-humanity approach:

  👉A new immigration bill that focuses on border security without protection and dangerous new enforcement measures that could harm refugees.

  👉 Banning most refugees from ever getting citizenship, framing them as second-class individuals

  👉 No commitment to safe routes, leaving refugees with no choice but to risk their lives with smugglers.

  👉 Live broadcasts of deportations that risks fuelling hate and division.

   

  • What's wrong with this approach?
    ❌ It punishes refugees for a broken system: Banning refugees from citizenship and ramping up border crackdowns won’t stop dangerous journeys – it will only make life harder for people seeking safety.

     

    ❌ It puts border security before humanity: Tougher policing treats immigration as a security risk, sending the message that refugees are a problem to be contained, not people who need safety.

    ❌ It doesn’t stop the smugglers: Right now, there is no visa or process for refugees to apply for asylum unless they arrive in the UK first, leaving them with nowhere to turn but smugglers to get to the UK. Opening safe routes is the only way to end this cruel business.
