Sign the petition: Stop the attack on refugee family reunion

Fleeing war and persecution in search of safety is already unimaginable. But for too many refugees, reaching safety means separation from the people they love: a parent unable to bring their child to safety, or a child unable to reunite with their parents.

Our judicial review revealed that on 6 May, the Government decided to continue suspending refugee family reunion without informing Parliament or the public.

Now, its new Immigration and Asylum Bill threatens to weaken the right to family life and could prevent newly recognised refugees from reuniting with their families altogether.

Closing safe routes doesn't stop people needing protection. It leaves families with fewer and more dangerous options.

Refugee families have already endured enough. Government policy should bring families together, not keep them apart.

Sign the petition and call on the Government to:

  • Restore refugee family reunion - reverse the suspension and give refugees a safe way to reunite with their close family members.
  • Protect the right to family life - ensure refugee families can live together safely and with dignity.
  • Open and expand safe routes - give people fleeing war and persecution alternatives to dangerous journeys.
  • Protect children - no child should have to risk their life to reach their family.
